Houston Airport System

Public Web Site

DCG has provided design and maintenance support for HAS' public web site since 2000.  The site hosts 1 million visitors annually.

In January 2006, DCG and its subconsultant Advarion Inc completed the most recent upgrade (www.fly2houston.com).  The .Net-based site includes the following:

  • Integrated content management system (CMS)
  • Integration with the airport flight information display system (FIDS) for current flight information -- webFIDS
  • Flash-based terminal maps

Criminal History Record Check System

DCG designed and developed a system to support Airport Security Officer (ASO) tracking and review of Record Cases of fingerprints submitted to the Clearing House for background checks. The system includes integration with airports Identix scanning equipment and the TSA results website.  The system provides sequence tracking and automated notice generation in compliance with CFR 1542 requirements.

Contact Resource Center System - Enterprise Applications Integration (EAI)

DCG designed and developed a central portal to capture key employee information changes (leave; separation; info changes) and update, via EAI synchronization techniques, no less than 7 other applications requiring same current data. Additionally, the system sends alerts, notifications and reminders that would facilitate updating the current system. CRC system is developed using MS Presentation Services (the Web Browser, SharePoint Portal Server, and Web Forms), Business Services (BizTalk Orchestration, Schema and BizTalk Send & Receive pipeline components), Data Services (Data Access Layer and SQL Server 2000) and Reporting Services (Microsoft Reporting Services). CRC system follows a managed workflow, application integration interface..

Status and Alert System (SAL)

DCG developed and implemented a secure site web-based status and alert system used by airport operations, management, and airline-related personnel to provide message center updates of airfield, security, and facility operations.

  • DCG upgraded the broadcast capabilities of SAL to support and serve as the airport-wide Emergency Notification System supporting alert events.  The system serves multiple protocols to wireless devices and pages.  Quick entry templates and group administration features are other highlights of the application.
  • DCG upgraded SAL to incorporate a Noise Complaint Management Module. The module interfaces with the HAS public web site (where citizen complaints are reported) and provides Noise Office staff with tracking, resolution, and reporting capabilities.

Public Information Web Site

DCG provided design, project management, and programming support to develop a public information web site to support HAS' five-year $3.4 billion Capital Improvement Program.  The purpose of the site is to disseminate information regarding the large-scale construction program to the general public and to provide current RFQ/Bid opportunity information to prospective contractors.

The site includes the following major components:

  • Program Overview, including site diagrams with hyperlinks to associated project descriptions
  • Project Participants
  • Progress Photos
  • News Items
  • Traffic Alerts
  • Bid and RFQ Schedules (90 day and fiscal year look-ahead)
  • Detail Project Scopes

Project Management Information System

DCG provided design, project management, and programming support to migrate a legacy capital project tracking system to an object-oriented platform and integrate a legacy capital budgeting system into a single source system. The system provides capital improvements planning, planning, and design and construction management support for HAS’ $3.4 billion facilities expansion program which entails no less than 200 discrete projects. The system supports CIP budgeting and administration; project master scheduling with interface to Microsoft Project; appropriation tracking and control; contract administration; allowance tracking; work change directive tracking; letter of authorization (LOA) tracking; and payment tracking (including MWBE detail)

Emergency Protocol System

DCG designed and developed a LAN-based Emergency Protocol System to support Airport Operations and Management staffs handleemergency aircraft alert situations.   As an alert situation evolves, the system presents the operator with a protocol (checklist) of notification steps required andperforms pager broadcasting as defined in the database for the specific alert category. As the alert situation evolves, thesystem tracks status information for management reporting , and also supports escalation procedures.

Airport Use Permit System (AUP2000)

DCG designed and developed a LAN-based Airport Use Permitting System to support the permitting and registration needs ofHAS’ new AVI-based ground transportation program. The system is written in Microsoft Access and provides ODBC-basedintegration with the Airport’s transaction activity and billing software, provided by the Minneapolis Airport Commission.

The system supports all aspects of permit issuance and renewal; insurance compliance tracking; and, transponder issuance, verification, and recall. The system also provides operational reporting to monitor read accuracy of the AVI infrastructure.
